Tell us about yourself in 3 sentences
I'm a free spirit who loves to explore, learn, laugh, and spend time near the water. I'm dedicated to my internal evolution practices and try my best to lead with my heart in all that I do. I love to spend time with my family, do everything/anything with my little dog Rudy, and make lasting friendships with people from around the globe.
Your work and passion?
My work is rooted in helping people find presence through the use of breathwork, meditation, inner child healing work, & cold exposure. I guide people toward a more aligned life by helping them acknowledge, face, and feel through trauma, anxiety, heartbreak, and other difficult human experiences.
What is your relation to this city?
I traveled to Tulum the first time in July 2021 and had such an amazing experience. I returned in February 2022 for 5 weeks and later made roots in the city from September 2022-May 2023. Each chapter in Tulum is a unique experience and always seems to give you exactly what you need.
Best experience?
Free diving in the fresh water cenotes is, in my opinion, a can't miss opportunity.
Your top 3 hangout spots?
Otti Cacao in La Valeta, Cenote Escondido, Ikal
Favorite restaurants?
Italdo for the best bakery goodies. Taqueria Honorio for the best traditional Mexican Tacos. Long Time Coffee for the most incredible coffee & traditional chinese dumplings. A few more most-eats: La Negra Tomasa, Canova, Pepe's Tacos, & Check Point Pizza.
Best date place?
Tu, located in Centro.
Best Sunday spot?
Laguna Kaan or Ikal
Where do you go shopping?
Tulum is filled with places to shop. Centro has more traditional/more touristy shops, while La Valeta has some cool local/consignment shopping.
Where is your escape from this city?
Playa del Carmen is just 1.5 hours north of Tulum. It's a really fun place to take a weekend away. There is a much more grounded energy there than Tulum.
Best 5 local advice?
1. DO NOT drink the tap water.
2. Lavanderia Mama Maria is the best laundry service ever. They pick up your laundry for you and will return your clean, folded laundry in 24 hours or less. Trust me, do it.
3. If you want a fun, local experience, I would live in La Valeta over Centro or Aldea Zama. There is a really fun community there and really cute local food spots.
4. Palma Central Tuesday salsa night. Be there, or be square.
5. ATM trick: there aren’t too many ATMs in Tulum. The ones with the best rates are at Banco Azteca, Santander, or in a small bank next to BIO-Natural Tulum on Avendia Coba (orange building). The trick with the ATM is that you CAN decline the conversion fee. When you are taking out cash, there will be a service charge which you have to accept (less than 100 pesos), then they will show you a 12.5% (or something crazy) for a conversion charge… DENY IT. You will still get your cash, without paying an astronomical fee.
What’s your favorite This Way product? All the things pilates! xx
