I have been traveling to the paradise island of Bahamas, Harbour island for my first time. I flew from Miami to the island Eleuthera, which takes about 1 hour and then I sailed in a small boat for about ten minutes in order to get to Harbour Island.
The island is very small and the population is more than 1000 people. Everybody drives in golf cars which is super cute and fun.
I went for five days with a group of 12 people and we stayed in a beautiful rented villa just next to the famous "Pink Sand Beach". Pink Sand Beach has been announced by several medias around the world as one of the ten most beautiful beaches in the world.
And I have to agree, this beach is absolutely mind-blowing.
I had the curiosity to explore the island and try horse back riding on the beach for the first time in my life.
Here is my guide to Harbour Island:
Coral Sands - Cosy dinner in a terrace on the beach.
Pink Sands - Go here for lunch or dinner and enjoy a nice meal with a spectacular ocean view.
Rock house - upscale restaurant in a cool hotel. Dishes are local food including lobster tail, linguine, lobster spring rolls, fish cakes etc.
The Landing - Have a romantic meal or pre-cocktails here. Ask to sit outside when booking as there is limited space.
Ocean tally - is a beautiful lunch spot for a group up to 12 people where are the only quests to be hosted.
Sip Sip - Go for lunch and come only as they do not take reservations. The restaurant opens at 11:30. Try their passionfruit sangria and their lobster quesadillas. The restaurant is on the beach so you can enjoy the view while having lunch.
Dunmore - cool french style dinning in a cosy living room. This is also a hotel.
Bahamian coffee roasters - Go here for your coffee
Sweet spot cafe - makes fresh juices
Dunmore deli - casual deli serving american style Breakfast and sandwiches
Activities:
If you like water sports, you can do kayaking, kitesurfing, and paddle boarding.
You can also go snorkling, scuba diving, or fishing, or sailing. If you are lucky you can see and swim with the salty pink pigs (which probably is the only place in the world you will find this).
You can also do horse back riding or bike on the beach.
Or you can chill and enjoy the beach with a good coffee.
